It is normal to have participants arrive at all times Friday night since many will be coming after work.
DEPARTURE ON SUNDAY:
Departures will be on Monday morning around 11am.
DIVINE LITURGY ON SUNDAY
We will be attending Liturgy at the nearby Orthodox Church. It is called Sts. Cyril & Methodius Orthodox Church. The Priest there is Fr. Ian Shipley.
The parish will be hosting lunch after Liturgy on Sunday, so feel free to bring a cash donation to thank them for hosting us.
Here is their parish website: http://orthodoxchico.com/
SACRAMENTO AIRPORT (SAC):
If you are flying, we recommend that you fly into the Sacramento Airport (SAC). This airport is about 1.5 hours away from the camp site and if you fly in anytime after 3pm, someone can pick you up on their way.
SAN FRANCISCO (SFO) or SAN JOSE (SJC):
You can also fly into Northern California and road trip about 3.5 hours North to the camp site with the Bay Area Group. San Francisco (SFO) or San Jose (SJC) are great airports to fly into on Friday early afternoon (arrive before 4pm), and fly out late Monday night (after 5pm).
Typical weather is mid 80’s during the day and mid 60’s at night.
We will be under the trees, so there will be nice shade and a fresh mountain breeze! Pack cool comfy clothes for the day, and some warm cozy clothes for the evenings.
SHOWERS & BATHROOMS
-There is a bathroom house near the pond with a flush toilet, private shower & sink.
There are power outlets in the outdoor kitchen area and in the bathroom house. I will bring a power strip in case you need to charge your phone.
There is wifi on the property, but very limited. Ask me if you need access to it, but we are camping, so let's try to unplug from technology!
CELL PHONE RECEPTION
There is limited cell phone reception and service provider is different. Verizon and AT&T do okay in some spots, but other providers might not reach.
-Sleeping Bag (and extra blanket for on top if you want)
-Sleeping pad or yoga mat for your sleeping comfort
-Towel for showering (and extra towel for swimming if you want)
-Sweater or jacket for evenings
-Comfy clothes for 3 days
-Athletic shoes for hiking
-Flip Flops for around the camp
-Outfit for Liturgy on Sunday (This is a small mission parish, and we are camping... so you can dress on the more causal side
- Men, long pants and a nice button shirt are good - no need for a full suit and jacket.
