METROPOLIS YOUNG ADULT ONLINE FORUM

JOIN US FOR AN ONLINE YOUNG ADULT GATHERING. THIS MINISTRY IS OPEN TO ALL YOUNG ADULTS, AGES 18-30’S.


The Orthodox Forum is a casual, conversational ministry for young adults, ages 18-30’S, which provides relevant, informed, and candid discussion of far reaching topics and themes relating to our Orthodox faith.

Set-up in a relaxed, virtual environment, our goal is genuine interaction and fellowship, and through the exchange of ideas and perspectives, a deepening understanding of our ancient Orthodox tradition and a growing in genuine love for one another.

We will gather online once a month using Zoom, and will invite monthly guests to join us. You will find the list of guests and their photos and bios below.

All young adults are welcomed and warmly encourage to join us, so please help spread the word and invite your friends!

FR. JACOB SAYLOR

Fr. Jacob is the Assistant Priest at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Scottsdale, AZ.  Employed since January 2016, Fr. Jacob has worked extensively in field of Orthodox youth and young adult ministry since 2007.
 
An alumni of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School Of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts, Fr. Jacob received his Masters of Divinity in 2010. Prior to this, his undergraduate degree was a B.A. (Double-Major) in Philosophy and Religious Studies, earned at the University of South Carolina. Following his theological studies, Fr. Jacob worked as Youth Director of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, from 2011-2015, during which time he also served as program director for the Metropolis of San Francisco Summer Camp.  While on staff at the Metropolis Summer Camp at Saint Nicholas Ranch, he met his future wife Presvytera Jordan.

Invested in ministering to as many youth, families, and young adults as possible, Fr. Jacob has created, developed, and contributed to numerous programs across our Orthodox Church in North America, and has been blessed indeed to be further allowed to lead, organize, and guest lecture at various regional, Metropolis, and national youth, young adult, and youth worker events, retreats, and workshops year round.

FR. TIMOTHY PAVLATOS, L.M.F.T

Fr. Timothy is a licensed marriage and family therapist, and he was appointed the Metropolis of San Francisco Family Wellness Ministry Director from 2015-2018 and led the team with enthusiasm and grace. An adjunct professor at George Fox University’s Graduate School of Counseling, Fr. Timothy holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (1992) and a master’s degree in pastoral counseling from Loyola University in Maryland. A Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, Fr. Timothy is also a national certified counselor, a Clinical Fellow in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, a certified Gottman facilitator, and a certified clinical trauma professional. Over the past several years, Fr. Timothy has focused on marriage and parenting enrichment, interpersonal neurobiology and trauma. He and Presvytera Victoria have been married since 1995 and are currently raising their nine children in Arizona.

FR. SERAPHIM RAMOS

Father Seraphim Ramos is a graduate of Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He is currently the Assistant Priest at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas.

As a native of the Pacific Northwest, Father Seraphim embraced the Holy Orthodox Faith in 2008 at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church (OCA) in Tacoma, WA.  He converted from Protestantism together with his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.  His father, Father Joseph Ramos is now also an Orthodox Christian Priest in the Orthodox Church of America. 

Father Seraphim and Presvytera Olenka have three children, Ivanna Nikolai, and Makrina. He enjoys hiking, board games, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

STEVEN CHRISTOFOROU

A graduate of Yale University, Fordham University School of Law, and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Steve is passionate about sharing the Gospel in a clear and accessible way and helping people see Christ at work in their lives. He is currently the Director of the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

FR. PHOTIOS DUMONT

Fr. Photios has been ordained for almost 20 years. After graduating from Holy Cross Seminary he was assigned to the Ionian Village in Bartholomio, Greece, then to St. Demetrios Church in Thessaloniki, Greece. In the spring of 1991, he and his wife returned to America and he was assigned to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in San Diego. In September 1992, he was assigned as the assistant priest to Fr. Elias Stephanopoulos (of blessed memory) in Portland, OR. In 1994, he was assigned to The Resurrection Church in Castro Valley, CA, and in August of 2004, he was assigned to St. Demetrios in Seattle as the Proistamenos.

FR. NICK MUELLER

Fr. Nick Mueller grew up in Roseville, California at St. Anna Greek Orthodox Church. Both he and Presvytera Dena studied English Literature at UC Berkeley. After completing their undergraduate studies, they continued on to graduate study in Boston where they have lived for the past eight years. Fr. Nick is now the Associate Priest at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension in Oakland, CA. Presvytera Dena is currently in a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in English Literature at UC Berkeley. Both Fr. Nick and Pres. Dena love outdoor activities including hiking, camping, running, skateboarding and rock climbing.

FR. NIKO BEKRIS

Father Nikolaos (Niko) Bekris was born in Seattle, Washington in 1981, and was baptized at the Church of the Annunciation in Amaliada, Greece on August 15, 1982. After graduating from the University of Washington in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in History, he enrolled at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Massachusetts, having felt a calling from the Lord to become a priest. He finished his studies in 2008, graduating with a Master of Divinity.

Upon completing his studies, he served as the Youth Director of the Metropolis of San Francisco for three years (2008-2011) while also serving at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in San Francisco. He was ordained to the holy deaconate on December 14, 2008, at his home parish of the Assumption in Seattle, Washington, and was ordained to the holy priesthood on August 15, 2011 at the Annunciation Cathedral, after which he began serving at the Cathedral as the full-time associate pastor. He is currently the senior priest at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection, Castro Valley. 

Father Niko enjoys ministry a great deal. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Greek folk dancing, contemporary Greek and American music and life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is also an avid Seattle sports fan, and comic book/graphic novel reader.
