METROPOLIS VIRTUAL CAMP 2021

The Metropolis of San Francisco Summer Camp plans to offer yet another year of our exceptional Metropolis Virtual Camp ministry for youth across the Metropolis and Archdiocese. Campers and staff will be engaged in the program Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with cabin talks, daily services, arts & crafts, cooking classes, evening activities, and more! Participants will also receive a camper box in the mail stuffed with all kinds of camp surprises!

In addition to our Virtual Camp ministry, we will be partnering with parishes and regions across the Metropolis to offer in-person day camps and outdoor events throughout the summer for our youth to safely gather in-person according to their local guidelines. If your parish is interested in partnering with us, please email our Metropolis Youth Director Johanna Duterte Carter at JDuterte@sanfran.goarch.org

The Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministries also plans to resume hosting overnight ministries this fall with both Youth & Young Adult Fall Retreats held at St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center.

WHAT WILL VIRTUAL CAMP BE LIKE?

Campers will be assigned to a cabin with counselors, and we will offer some of your favorite camp activities like daily services, arts & crafts, faith & culture, cabin discussions & devotionals, Orthodox life, a virtual camp dance, and more!

Our program will include two and a half hours in the morning from 10:00am-12:30pm, and an hour and a half in the evening from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

The morning program will begin with Orthros followed by a short sermon from the Priest which will highlight the Orthodox Life topic of the day, followed by Time with God, Cabin Talk (where cabins will engage in discussions) and conclude with one activity session (like arts & crafts or cooking class, or faith & culture).

The evening program will begin with either Vespers or Paraklesis, followed by either a cabin devotional or an evening activity.
